FELTING WORKSHOPS
Wet & Needle Felting Classes in Leeds
Create, connect, and craft with wool at one of our relaxing felting workshops at Northlight in Chapel Allerton Leeds.
Felting is a slow, sensory, and deeply satisfying art from - perfect for anyone who loves tactile art and is looking to unwind and relax. We host workshops in both wet felting (with water and soap) and needle felting (using barbed needles) to sculpt, shape, and design with wool.
This ancient process is simple yet magical: as you layer, shape, and gently agitate the wool, the fibres bond together to form sculptural vessels or textured landscapes, depending on the workshop.
You’ll learn hands on techniques from experienced felt artist Janine Jacques and artist and educator Lydia Rain in a supportive and inspiring setting. Whether you’re a total beginner or looking to refine your skills, our workshops are a fun, creative escape and you’ll go home with beautiful felted pieces to treasure.

Learn to create a unique piece of art that reflects the beauty and magic of the natural world. This exclusive half-day workshop will teach you the art of needle felting with Janine's expert guidance to walk you through each step of the process. She will offer individualised attention and hands-on assistance so this workshop is suitable for both beginners and those with prior experience. You can work sat down for the duration of this workshop so it’s a very relaxing and therapeutic session.
Needle felting is not sewing. Needle felting uses a special barbed needle and you stab pieces of wool fibres into the background material. It is easy to do and also very therapeutic (as long as you don't stab your fingers!).
Images of landscapes to work from will be provided, however we would love you to bring your own. If there is a photo of a landscape you'd like to create that evokes special memories Janine will take you through step by step how to transform it into felt. Feel free to bring as many images as you like and Janine can help you choose the right one.
