LIFE DRAWING 4 WEEK COURSE
In this course led by professional artist Boris Cruse you’ll learn how to create both gestural and structural drawings from both long and short poses. This month, attention will be given to the anatomy and gesture of the head as well as creating good connection to the upper torso. Macrame Wall Hanging Workshop
Join Northlight studio artist Amanda Burton for a relaxing morning of mindful macrame. In this workshop you will learn some basic knots and make your own beautiful macrame feathers to create a complete wall hanging ready to take home.
Suitable for complete beginners as an introduction to Macrame Art. This project is easy and fun and yields great results!
All materials including a dowel/ branch is provided. You will also be supplied with a printed macrame booklet to take home with step by step instructions should you want to delve deeper into the various knot techniques.

Abstract Watercolour Landscapes - with Lydia Rain
Learn techniques for freeing up your painting to create expressive, spontaneous abstract landscapes using the dynamics of watercolour paint and the free flow of water. Great vibes, music, beer and a friendly warm atmosphere is what you’ll find at 7 by 7’s monthly open decks vinyl night. Bring along and play us seven of your 7” 45rpm vinyl singles or just come along and enjoy the vibe.
There will be a fantastic selection of vinyl to buy from The Record Plant Farsley who will be running a stall on the night. Play them on the night or just hang out, have a beer and take in the musical ride. Prices start from just £1 with some rare and collectible singles in the mix too.

Time & Space - Exhibition Launch
You are invited to attend the grand opening of Time & Space - the latest exhibition by Leeds based artist Paul Digby and Barnsley writer/ poet Ian McMillan.
Join us for an unmissable evening of poetry readings by seasoned performer Ian and exquisite drawings by Paul. This collaboration of work has been beautifully put together into a book designed by Stuart Harvey which will be available to buy on the night.
Paul Digby
Throughout his career, Paul has exhibited extensively in prestigious venues, such as EAST Gallery, Royal Society of Sculptors Gallery, Leeds City Gallery, the Cornerhouse in Manchester, and the internationally renowned Saatchi Gallery. His artistic journey has been marked by a continuous pursuit of new skills and techniques.
While Paul’s artistic repertoire encompasses painting and sculpture, drawing remains at its core. He draws inspiration from George Seurat’s drawings, particularly in the mastery of light and dark, cross hatching, and the layered application of materials, such as graphite and fixative.
Ian McMillan
Ian McMillan (b. 1956) is one of the UK’s best known contemporary poets. Aside from many books (for adults and children), sometimes including prose and plays, he has also made appearances on television, on all the national BBC radio channels (through which he was recently listed as the 22nd most powerful person in radio), in diverse newspapers and magazines, and as a poet in residence in a wide range of places including Barnsley FC and the Humberside Police. He also maintains a breathtaking schedule of appearances in schools, prisons and arts festivals.

LIFE DRAWING 4 WEEK WORKSHOP
Join professional artist and Northlight artistic director Boris Cruse for an unforgettable four-week life drawing workshop. Northlight is a welcoming and accessible space that understands that each of us learn at a different pace, have a preference for different learning styles and are at different points in our creative journey. We are able accommodate all.
What to Expect:
We'll look at constructive use of line and capturing the gesture in short poses. All our models are exquisitely lit providing an ideal opportunity to work with tonal values and to craft your interpretation through gestural and structural drawing. Boris Cruse, with his wealth of experience, will guide beginner artists and those requiring tuition through each step of the journey, ensuring that you reach your full potential.
Materials
All necessary materials are supplied at no additional cost including easels, drawing boards, quality drawing papers, graphite, charcoal, Indian ink, brushes, and acrylics. Of course, if you have your own cherished tools, feel free to bring them.
Inspiration:
For those requiring tuition we'll look at the 'how and why?' of new and old masters. Our four-week workshop is suitable for beginners and experts alike where artists have the opportunity to follow Boris' teaching or simply work from the model.
Week 1 Simplification of forms using familiar shapes
Week 2 Gesture and structure
Week 3 Using tonal values to create form
Week 4 Proportions of the body and rendering to create a finished drawing
