Community Creativity

Creativity For Everyone

At Northlight Arts Centre, we believe creativity should be accessible to everyone.

Our Community Creativity programme brings people together through art, making and creative conversation. Through a range of welcoming pay-as-you-feel sessions, we provide opportunities to explore creativity, learn new skills, meet new people and spend time in a supportive environment.

Some people come to develop their artistic skills. Others come for the conversation, sense of community or simply the opportunity to make something with their hands. Many arrive knowing nobody and leave feeling part of something.

Whether you’re returning to creativity after many years away, looking for a regular creative outlet or simply curious to try something new, you’ll find a warm welcome here.

No previous experience is needed. Just come as you are.

Because cost should never be a barrier to creativity.

What to Expect

Expect a warm welcome and the opportunity to spend a few hours making something in good company.

Our sessions are informal and friendly, with no pressure to produce finished artwork and no need for previous experience. Some people arrive with a project in mind, while others simply come along to see where the session takes them.

You’ll find a range of materials to explore from our community Art Trolley, opportunities to learn new techniques and plenty of encouragement from staff, volunteers and fellow participants.

Whether you’re feeling confident or haven’t picked up a paintbrush in years, you’re welcome to join us and take part in whatever way feels right for you.

We have a lovely cafe serving barista coffees, teas, cakes and snacks.

No booking is required you can just drop in. If you have any additional access needs please don’t hesitate to drop us a message to make sure your visit is as comfortable as possible.

More Than Weekly Sessions

Community Creativity extends beyond our regular groups.

Throughout the year, participants have opportunities to take part in exhibitions, collaborative projects, artist-led activities and special events. These opportunities help people develop confidence, share their work and become part of Northlight’s wider creative community.

Many lasting friendships have been formed through these sessions, creating a supportive network that extends far beyond the studio.
