What is Life Drawing?
Life drawing is the practice of drawing from a live model, helping you develop observation, proportion and an understanding of the human form.
Working directly from life allows you to slow down, look more closely, and build confidence in your drawing.
Life Drawing in Leeds at Northlight
Our life drawing classes take place at Northlight Arts Centre in Chapel Allerton, Leeds (LS7), serving North Leeds, Meanwood and surrounding areas, just a short distance from the city centre. The studio is a bright, welcoming space with free parking on site and easy access by public transport.

Join our popular life drawing classes in Leeds, held on Tuesday evenings in our light, welcoming studio. These sessions are designed for absolute beginners, confident artists and anyone who simply enjoys drawing from the human form.
Each week offers something different:
a mix of short and long poses
professional life models
opportunity for excellent tuition if needed
calm, focused time to switch off and be creative
Our approach is relaxed and supportive. You can draw at your own pace, with optional guidance available throughout. Many people join us to improve their drawing skills, build a portfolio, or enjoy a weekly creative routine. During the May workshops we will spend time focussing on drawing hands from a structural, anatomical and gestural approach.
All materials included
We provide everything you need: paper, charcoal, graphite, easels and A1 drawing boards. Just arrive and start drawing.
Continue Your Creative Practice
Many artists use life drawing as the foundation for other forms of creative work.
At Northlight Arts Centre you can build on these skills through our wider programme of artist-led painting, ceramics and other creative workshops.

Public Transport
Get the number 2 and 3 bus opposite the Corn Exchange which stops outside of Lidl on Harrogate Road. It is then a 1 minute walk to Northlight Arts Centre on Potternewton Lane.
